A Momentous 20-Year Milestone for ProgenyHealth

Company leadership

Dear ProgenyHealth Community:

When I founded ProgenyHealth in 2003, it was because I saw firsthand a very broken and fragmented system for managing the complex health care needs of high-risk newborns and their families. As a pediatrician, I knew there was a better and a more holistic way to provide comprehensive health care.

With a heart full of passion and purpose, I set out to build a company that would think and act differently, and one which would focus on new and innovative ways to change the status quo. While there is still so much to be done to ensure that healthcare is more accessible and equitable for all moms and babies, I remain so proud of all the ProgenyHealth team has accomplished these past 20 years.

Every day, we are making a positive difference in the lives and health outcomes of those we serve. We’re there to support them as their families grow, sharing in some of their most joyful moments, and sometimes, their hardest challenges. We’re helping moms throughout their pregnancies, so their babies join the world in a healthier state and ensuring they both have access to the resources they need to thrive. Today, and every day, we are redefining what it means to truly support and effectively care for our mothers, infants, and their families across our country.

As ProgenyHealth has grown and evolved over the years, so have I. I have always known that one day, the time would come for me to welcome our next leader, to guide our company into its next chapter and to an even more impactful future. I am thrilled to announce, that time has come.

In December, Susan Torroella, MBA, joined ProgenyHealth as our new Chief Executive Officer. We could not be more excited! Susan is a seasoned CEO and a compassionate leader, and one who feels a deep sense of connection to our core mission and values. During our first meetings, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of, this just feels right. Susan shares in our vision for what the future of maternal and infant health care should be, and will help ProgenyHealth scale to its next level of purpose and impact to meet that goal.

I am also excited to announce that while ProgenyHealth advances to its next chapter, so will I. As Susan takes the helm at the company, I will assume the role of Founder and Executive Chairwoman of the Board. In that role, I will remain closely connected to the company, supporting its future strategy and growth plans. This transition will also enable me to focus on a cause that has been on my roadmap since the founding of the company, which is to launch the ProgenyHealth Foundation, to further support and fund the unmet needs of the women, infants, and families we serve. I look forward to sharing more information on the Foundation’s planning and progress as it unfolds over the coming months.

To say I have enjoyed the immense privilege of being ProgenyHealth’s Founder and CEO these past twenty years would be a profound understatement. It has been one of the greatest joys and blessings of my life. Now, with Susan leading our team as our CEO, I look forward to all the good works ProgenyHealth will accomplish in 2023 and beyond. Here’s to the next extraordinary 20 years, advancing our very important mission, so all moms, infants and families have access to the health care services they need to live their heathiest and best lives!

Gratefully Yours,

Ellie Stang, MD
